5 Best Sites For Hybrid Car / Fuel Efficiency Research
In my research to purchase a hybrid car, I’ve come across a few resources that have helped me much more than others. It seems a lot of domain squatting and google ad crazed sites have popped up, and I found it hard to find solid, concrete, unbiased infomation. The below five sites are the ones that I found to be the most factual and helpful.
1. Green Car Buying Guide, by CNET
The “green car buying guide” over at CNET should be your first stop for anything related to cutting your costs at the pump or wiping them out altogether. It’s presented in an unbiased fashion and discusses Hybrids, PZEVs, SULEVs, Flexible Fuel Vehicles, Natural Gas Vehicles, Electric Cars, Series Hybrids, and Diesel / Bio-Diesel. While there, be sure to check out the cleanest cars you can buy, which discusses more in detail about emmissions benefits from Hybrids.
2. Automotive.com Hybrid Car ReviewsAutomotive.com covers Hybrid vehicles from Chevrolet, Ford, Mazda, Mercury, Saturn, and Toyota. Their reviews are the most in depth available and they do full test drives of all the vehicles reviewed. Average pricing, the value rating, and all the specs could you are looking for are all displayed.
While Automotive.com may have more vehicles reviewed and listed, CarsDirect has a much more focused section on fuel-efficient cars. They present an easy to read list of MPG for the top ten fuel efficient cars, with # 1 being a hybrid (Prius).
4. Green Vehicle Guide from the EPA
One of the best resources for finding the right car for you and helping you decide if a Hybrid would benefit you. Almost every vehicle is listed and fuel economy estimates are presented for each of them. Keep in mind, if you used the site last year, that the EPA has changed the way they estimate fuel economy for 2008.
5. Motor Trend
An awesome resource that goes a step further than just statistics and numbers, Motor Trend feautures reviews and previews of all the latest hybrids and alternative fuel vehicles. Be sure to check out their review of the Quick Drive from Dodge, which is an all electric sports car.
There are many sites about Alternative Vehicles, but many of them have just been set up to earn commissions and are completely biased. The above links are completely commission free and represent what I feel to be the five best resources for finding out Hybrid Car info.
